Tom Testone

Growing up, my weekends (when not playing sport) were spent outdoors in the Aussie bush as a way of keeping me and my brothers from tearing each other and the house apart! Some of my fondest memories are of exploring enchanted forests where the rest of the world seemed to fade away.

When I discovered photography in my late teens as a means of expressing and sharing what I saw, a passion (obsession my wife would say) and lifelong journey of discovery began. I’ve been an avid photographer since the time of film. My main passions have always been wildlife and landscape photography, but other areas of photography have been equally rewarding. Anything that gets me behind the camera, really!

I am also passionate about conservation and animal welfare and have had images published in animal welfare magazines, such as WSPA and Animals Voice, promoting the work of the brumby welfare organisation ‘Save the Brumbies Inc.’. My interests also extend to travel and equine photography including event photography such as equestrian competitions and clinics.

I have completed the ‘Photography – Social Documentary’ course (UTS 2001) and also attended photography workshops and seminars conducted by renowned landscape and wildlife photographers Steve Parish, Ken Duncan and Darran Leal.

Over the years I’ve often been told by those around me that “I have been gifted with the ability to capture and convey the essence and mood of a scene, telling it’s story with vivid and captivating images.” In searching for new and creative photography techniques over the years, I have found panoramic and 360-degree photography to be great techniques that offer a more immersive experience.

Based in the picturesque Southern Highlands of NSW I aim to capture and share the beauty of this hidden gem, but I’m more than happy to go wherever the adventure takes me!
